Administrative boundaries are contained in individual layers numbered 1 through 6. These layers are also organized by country. The admin levels will roughly fit these general descriptions. Please note that not all countries will have all levels populated, and features may not exactly match the descriptions in the following table:
Administrative Level | Administrative Area |
Level 1 | Country |
Level 2 | State, Province, or Subdivision |
Level 3 | Second Level Administrative Division |
Level 4 | Third Level Administrative Division |
Level 5 | Fourth Level Administrative Division |
Level 6 | Fifth Level Administrative Division |
A hierarchy text file is included for each country with multiple administrative levels. This file relates lower-order admin areas to associated higher-order areas with a separate record for each unique lower-order area name.
All boundaries are depicted with accurate shorelines and are not buffered.
