Administrative Level: The term used in World Boundaries Premium to refer to a hierarchical division or subdivision of a nation. World Boundaries Premium recognizes a total of six Administrative Levels.
County: A geographical unit of a country, most often a subdivision of a state, or its equivalent.
District: A unit of administrative division that varies in size depending on the country in which it's used, but generally spanning municipalities, counties, or their local equivalents.
Neighborhood: A geographic area where people live, work, and socialize. Residents of the area often have common needs and interests.
Parish: (1) A subdivision equivalent to a county; (2) a subdivision of a county or its equivalent.
Region: An administrative unit that generally exists as a first-tier division of a country.
State: (1) Usually, a top-level administrative division of a country; (2) the primary administrative and geographic division of the United States.
Suburb: A residential or mixed-use area that is within commuting distance of an urban area.
Town: Generally, a low-level subdivision of an administrative unit such as a county, district, or parish.
Urban agglomeration: An extended metropolitan area composted of an urban core and any contiguous suburbs.
Urban area: An area with a high population density and infrastructure consisting primarily of man-made surroundings.
