What if there is only one elementary, middle, or high school in a district?
When there is only one school serving students at a certain educational level or grade range, the attendance zone is coextensive with the school district. In School Boundaries. We represent both the district boundary and an SAZ boundary that mirrors the district boundary.
What is a supervisory union?
A supervisory union provides administrative services to client districts through a common superintendent. For example, the School Administrative Unit (SAU) #29 in New Hampshire is comprised of seven independent school districts. SAU 29 is responsible for managing the collective budget of all districts, maintaining all facilities, coordinating the activities of seven independent school boards, and supervising the educational programs for students in all seven districts.
In other areas, districts band together in supervisory unions in order to provide services they cannot offer or cannot afford on their own. Supervisory unions are very common in states like New Hampshire and Vermont.
Not all supervisory unions are represented in School Boundaries, only those that directly operate schools.
Does Precisely offer 100% coverage of school attendance zones?
No, we do not have school attendance zones for all schools. While we research SAZs for all public schools, there are two situations in which we are unable to do so:
- We are unable to locate an official resources for school boundary information from either the district, the school, or local or state governments. We cannot create an SAZ without an official resource
- A school may be a choice school, meaning that it has no geographic area defining its attendance
Additionally, we do not create attendance zones for private schools or other institutions, such as virtual schools, juvenile detention centers, etc., that do not have associated geographic attendance areas.
What are point-only districts?
A point-only district is a school point without district or attendance zone boundary. Point-only districts are most commonly associated with charter school organizations that are not affiliated with a typical governing body of a school district. They also can be found in low-population areas.
