If the data that you are viewing can be exported, you will see the Export to Excel button at the top of the table. This allows you to export the table contents to an Excel file.
The downloaded file name includes the asset type, if applicable, and the date on which the export file was created.
When you export data to an Excel file, the file contains a row for each exported asset, and a column for each of the asset's fields. Depending on the asset type, additional columns might also be included in the export:
Asset type | Columns |
---|---|
Business Asset | Asset UID, Asset ID, Url |
Technical Asset | Asset UID, Asset ID, Url |

Depending on the type of data that you are exporting, the content of the export files varies:
- Filters and sort ordering - When you export Business Assets, Technical Assets, Semantic Types or an asset list for Semantic Type, the exported data reflects any sort ordering and filters that you have applied before exporting. Sometimes it might be necessary to apply filters to reduce the number of assets to be exported so that it is less than the value that is defined for the Maximum Number of Excel Export Items.
- Relationship fields - When you export Rules, for each Relationship field, each row contains a delimited list of the relationships that exist on the asset, for example
relationship 1 | relationship 2 | relationship 3
.Similarly, when you export Business Assets or Technical Assets, for each Relationship field, each row contains a delimited list of relationships that exist on the asset.
- Rule results - When you export Rules, Rule Results are not included in the export. Rule Results can be exported separately.
- Audit information - When Change Log data is exported, the date and time is shown in UTC.
- API info - When you export Business Assets, Technical Assets, Models, Policies or Rules, the export file contains an "Api Info" tab which contains paging information.
In all cases, export files contain all non-lookup fields, including fields that are not listable. Export files do not include relation lookups or ownership lookups.
You can also export the details of an asset type, including all fields defined on the asset type, as well as relation lookup details, responsibility types and relationships.
Custom export templates
If a Data360 Govern administrator has created export templates for the asset type that you are exporting to Excel, Choose export to Excel format is displayed when you hover over the Export to Excel button, and the Export Data panel opens when you click the icon.
The available export templates are listed, with a description of each template if one was added when the template was created. To export the data using any of the available templates, click the template name in the list.
If any custom styles have been added to the template, these are included in the exported data. For example, a style added to display the header row with a different background and text color.
