Depending on the responsibilities assigned to you, you can add new items to models in your system. Top-level model types used by your organization are typically agreed upon in advance by a group of stakeholders, and can only be created by users with administrator rights.

Edit a model

  1. Go to the model that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Edit button next to an existing model asset.
  3. In the Edit Item panel, edit the properties of the asset as required. For example, you can change the name and description of the asset, or move the item to a new parent model.

Add a child item to a model

  1. Go to the model that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Add button next to an existing model asset to add a new child item.
  3. Use the New Item panel to define the name and description for the new model asset.
Note: The Add button is missing from some items. This is because a maximum depth is set on a model, which restricts how deeply nested the model can become. For example, you can specify that a model can only ever be 2 levels deep. Level Name and Level Number do not display in the model Definition page when the maximum depth is 1.

Delete an item

  1. Go to the model that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Delete button next to an existing model asset, then click Delete to confirm that you want to delete the item.
Note: The Delete button is not available for all items. This is because you cannot delete model items that have child items. In this case, you must delete all of the child items first.

After creating new model assets, you will typically want to relate other assets, such as Business Assets to them. You can also apply responsibilities to model assets, which will then be inherited by related items, making it possible to use model groupings to simplify ownership management of other assets.
