In some cases, you might want to consolidate two or more labels into one label.

  1. Select the labels that you want to consolidate.
  2. From the menu that appears at the top of the list grid when you have selected two or more items, select Consolidate.
  3. When prompted, select the single label that you want to keep, then click Consolidate.
    Tip: If the selected connector labels are used in an existing process diagram, you can click the Where Used link to see the diagram details. Alternatively, click Download Where Used Reports to download an Excel file for each label showing the details of any process diagrams where the label is used.

For example, you have the following three labels which are synonymous:

  • Accepted
  • Approved
  • Authorized

You want to consolidate these labels by replacing all occurrences of "Accepted" and "Authorized" with "Approved".

If you want to consolidate just two labels, for example, "Approved" and "Authorized", click the menu button to the right of the label that you want to replace, in this case "Authorized", and select Edit. In the Edit Connector Label dialog, type the name of the existing label that you want to consolidate with the selected label, in this case, "Approved". You can click the link in the Consolidate Labels? message to view a list of process diagrams that contain the selected label, showing you where this label would be replaced if you choose to consolidate the labels.
