Setting a theme as the current one

  1. On the Branding page, locate the theme that you want to set as the one to be applied to the UI, click the Options menu on the right-hand side of the appropriate card, and select Set as Current Theme.

The Set as Current Theme dialog displays.

  2. Click Set as Current Theme.

The dialog closes and the theme displays the Current Theme badge.

Tip: For more information about working with colors while creating or editing a theme, see The Information panel.

Creating a new theme

  1. On the Branding page, click Add new Theme (+), positioned above the themes cards, to the right-hand side.

The Create New Theme modal dialog displays.

  2. Enter a Theme Name.

This is required and must be unique within the current environment.

  3. Load each image as needed, making sure they comply with the specifications given in the modal dialog.

If you do not specify your own images, the default Precisely ones are applied.

  4. Click on each color field in turn, to open a color picker, and select the appropriate colors. Alternatively, enter the color's hex value, in the appropriate field.

If you do not select a color, the default one is used.

  5. When you have finished, click Create.

The modal dialog closes, you are returned to the Branding page, and the theme is added to the cards already present.

Duplicating themes

Duplicating a theme is one of the easiest ways to start developing a new one.

Do the following:

  • On the Branding page, locate the theme you want to duplicate, click the Options menu on the right-hand side of the appropriate card, and select Duplicate.

An exact copy of the theme is created, beneath the original one in the grid. The name of the duplicated theme has a version number appended to it. For example, "Precisely Theme (1)".

You can now continue, for example, to edit the theme to create a new one, or carry out any of the other actions in the Options menu.

Note: Once the Precisely theme has been duplicated, you can carry out any of the actions in the Options menu, on the new version. You cannot, however, rename it to be the original name. This also applies to all other original theme names.

Editing a theme

You can only edit duplicated or created themes, not the Precisely one.

  1. On the Branding page, locate the theme you want to edit.

  2. Click the Options menu on the right-hand side of the appropriate card, and select Edit. Or, Select the Edit link on the Information panel. See The Information panel for more details.

  3. When you are finished, click Save Changes.

Downloading a theme

You cannot download the Precisely theme.

  • On the Branding page, locate the theme you want to download in JSON format, then:

    • Click the Options menu on the right-hand side of the appropriate card, and select Download.

      or:

    • Click Download, positioned above the themes cards, to the right-hand side.

The theme, including all fields, images in JSON format and any custom CSS, are exported to a location determined by your browser settings.

The download name has the format: ThemeName_Environment_LastModifiedDate.json. For example:

    MyTheme_DEV_13May2022.json

If the theme is downloaded more than once in a day, the appropriate number in parentheses is added to the name.

Importing a theme

  1. On the Branding page, click Import, positioned above the themes cards, to the right-hand side.

  2. Navigate to the place where the relevant JSON file is located, select it and click Open.

Once the import is successful, a message displays.

If the JSON file is wrong, or if it is the wrong kind of JSON, a warning displays and the import is aborted.

If only specific variables or fields have incorrect values, a warning displays listing the problem and the import is aborted.

The name given to the theme on the branding page is the first part of the JSON file name, if it has the same format as the download name described above, and has not been changed.

If a theme already exists with that name, the Replace or Rename the Theme dialog displays, for you to act accordingly.

Deleting a theme

Neither the Precisely Theme, or the current theme can be deleted.

  1. On the Branding page, locate the theme you want to delete, then click the Options menu on the right-hand side of the appropriate card, and select Delete.

    The Delete Theme dialog displays.

  2. Click Delete.

You are returned to the Branding page, and the theme is permanently deleted.
