When you create a new asset type, it will have a key field called Name. The value of this field is used to reference the asset throughout the application, for example, when you open an asset details page the value of this field is displayed in the breadcrumb. If you edit the name of this default field, or delete the field, this change is not automatically picked up throughout the system. You must also update the Display Format value.

You can choose to edit the Display Format value if you want to use an additional or different field to reference the asset type throughout the application. Note that if you select an optional field when configuring the asset type Display Format, unpopulated values show as '---'.

  1. From the Configuration > Business Assets page, click the menu button to the right of the asset type on which you want to update the Display Format and select Edit.
  2. In the Display Format field, click the menu button and select the name of the field that you want to use to reference the asset type throughout the application.
  3. Delete any existing tokens from the Display Format field to leave only the tokens that you want to use.
If you notice that the value does not update immediately after making these changes, you can force the update from the Administration > Settings page by clicking Rebuild Display Values.
