Introduced in version 13.2 Added ability to export a dashboard tab to Microsoft Excel and functionality to send a dashboard tab as Excel via email

You can export a chart or its data from a dashboard in the following formats:

  • PNG Image
  • JPEG Image
  • PDF Document
  • .csv file
  • Microsoft Excel .xlsx file

Exporting a chart to an image or PDF file

  1. Select the Pipelines menu at the top of the page.
  2. Select the dashboard that contains the chart that you want to export.
  3. From the preview of the dashboard on the right of the screen, click the More... icon.
  4. Select Export.
  5. Choose a format for the export file. Choose from PNG Image, JPEG Image, and PDF Document. The file is downloaded in the appropriate format, according to your browser settings.
Note: Exported dashboard images do not include interactive elements, like Drill fields and Filters.

Exporting chart data to a file

Complete the steps for exporting to an image or PDF file. Choose Data or MS Excel (.xlsx) as the format for the export file.

When you export data as a .csv file or a .xlsx file, the Export Data or Export to MS Excel dialog opens. Use this dialog to choose whether to export all data, or select a number of rows to be exported. The default is to export all data.

If you attempt to export a large number of rows, a warning is displayed, depending on the export format:

  • Export Data - a warning is displayed if the number of rows to be exported is greater than one million
  • Export to MS Excel - a warning is displayed if the number of rows to be exported exceeds the number of rows allowed for Microsoft Excel.

Exporting additional data fields

You can also export chart data from the Data Details window. By using this method, you can export fields that are not displayed in the chart.

  1. Select the Pipelines menu at the top of the page.
  2. Select the dashboard that contains the chart that you want to export.
  3. From the preview of the dashboard on the right of the screen, click the More... icon.
  4. Select Show Data. The Data Details window is displayed.
  5. Click Select Fields to choose the fields that are displayed in the Data Details window. Click outside the Select Fields panel to refresh the view.
  6. Click Export, and choose a format for the export file. The file is downloaded in the appropriate format, according to your browser settings.

Export a dashboard tab to Microsoft Excel

You can export an entire dashboard tab (also called a dashbook) to a Microsoft Excel file that includes both an image of the dashboard and its underlying data.

Prerequisite: Ensure your role has export permissions.
  1. Select the Dashboards menu at the top of the page.
  2. Select the dashboard that you want to export.
  3. From the toolbar, select Export > MS Excel (.xlsx).
  4. In the Export to MS Excel dialog, choose one of the following:
    • Export all data
    • Specify maximum number of records
  5. Click OK.
The export process begins and the Export Progress dialog appears. The system generates a multi-tab Excel file:
    • First tab: PNG image of the dashboard tab.
    • Subsequent tabs: Data for each dashlet.
      • Dashlets without data (such as filters) are skipped.
      • Tab names are based on dashlet titles and truncated to meet Excel's character limit.
Note: The snapshot on the first screen of the Excel file displays a limited number of rows based on the dashlet size. All rows and their complete data are available in the subsequent tabs for each dashlet.
  6. Download the workbook.
The system downloads the multi-tab Excel file as a workbook.
Important: Audit logs capture export actions, including the user who performed the action and the timestamp.

Send a dashboard tab as Excel via email

You can share a dashboard tab by sending its Excel export directly to DQ+ users or environment groups.

  1. Open the dashboard tab you want to share.
  2. From the toolbar, select Email > MS Excel (.xlsx).
  3. In the compose panel:
    • Use the pencil icon to search for recipients or edit the email body.
    • Add recipients (Only DQ+ users or environment groups).
    • Enter the subject and message.
Important: Audit logs capture actions related to email, detailing the user involved, the timestamp of the event, and the recipients.
  4. In the Export to MS Excel dialog, choose one of the following:
    • Export all data
    • Specify maximum number of records
  5. Click Send.

The email process begins and the Export Progress dialog appears. The system generates the Excel file and sends it as an attachment.
