Purpose: The Z command will terminate the Dynamic
Install Facility (DIF), but leave the active products installed.
Syntax: Z
Comments:
Warning: Care should be taken when using
this command.
Any active subtasks running in the DIF address space
will be terminated. Since ACC uses a DIF subtask to
gather performance data for the RESPTIME volume selection algorithm, this
information will be lost when DIF terminates. During DIF
restart, any required subtasks will automatically be activated.
Examples: If you need to apply maintenance to SYS1.LPALIB and
DIF has the data set allocated, the following command could be used to
terminate DIF to allow modification to the library without removing the
products from the system. After maintenance has been performed, restart
DIF.
F DIF,Z
Note: The
DIF TSO command can be used to free the data
set. This will enable DIF to remain active during maintenance procedures.
