The documentation describing the options in this dialog box are from Safe Software's Help System.

To set the AutoCAD file options:

  1. Select the AutoCAD format and appropriate data.
  2. Click Settings to display the AutoCAD Settings. Select the appropriate options and click OK.

    For Autodesk AutoCAD DWG/DXF input settings, see Input Settings for Autodesk AutoCAD DWG/DXF Dialog Box (FME).

Opening Older AutoCAD Files

For a small number of files, an older version of the reader can successfully open data that a newer version can not. If you are having difficulty opening these DWG or DXF files using the Universal Data feature, you can enable an older, deprecated DWG/DXF reader to appear in the Format Gallery, and use this reader to open these files.

To do this, you must edit the formats.db file in the UT folder of your MapInfo Pro installation directory. This change does not effect the UT, which will always use the newer DWG and DXF readers.

To open older versions of DWG and DXF files:

  1. In your MapInfo Pro installation directory, click your UT directory and use a text editor to edit the formats.db file.
  2. Search for the following line:
    DWG|AutoCAD DWG/DXF(Deprecated)|FILE|BOTH|BOTH|NO|DWG Files(*.dwg)/DXF
    Files(*.dxf)%*.dwg;*.dxf%DWG Files(*.dwg)%*.dwg%DXF
    Files(*.dxf)%*.dxf%All Files%*.*||NO|YES|YES|NO
  3. And change it to:
    DWG|AutoCAD DWG/DXF(Deprecated)|FILE|BOTH|BOTH|NO|DWG Files(*.dwg)/DXF
    Files(*.dxf)%*.dwg;*.dxf%DWG Files(*.dwg)%*.dwg%DXF
    Files(*.dxf)%*.dxf%All Files%*.*||NO|YES|YES|YES
  4. Save your changes to this file.
  5. Close MapInfo Pro and reopen it.

The next time you display the Formats Gallery, the deprecated DWG/DXF reader displays.
