Rotation Angle

Enter the number of degrees in decimal degree or Degree, Minute, Second format to rotate an object. Positive numbers (1 to 359) rotate the object(s) counterclockwise from horizontal. To rotate clockwise, enter a negative number between -1 and -359.

Rotation Anchor Point

X/Y

Displays the current rotation anchor point about which the selected objects will be rotated. The coordinates for the anchor point display in the form of the current Map window's coordinate system. For long/lat projections, the coordinates display in either decimal degrees or DMS, depending on the setting in the Map Preferences Dialog Box (Display Tab) (on the PRO tab, click Options, and Map Window) or Map Options dialog box (on the MAP tab, in the Options group, click Map Options).

Note: Military Grid Reference and US National Grid Reference are not options.

Pick From Map

Click this button, then click on the location on the Map to set the desired anchor point. Clicking in other windows or on the ribbon is ignored. To cancel the pick point operation, press Esc and you are returned to the Rotate Objects dialog box.

Reset Anchor

This button resets the anchor point location to the default. If a single non-polyline object is selected, the anchor is the object's centroid. For a polyline, the default anchor point is the center of the object Minimum Bounding Rectangle (MBR). For multiple selected objects, the default anchor point is the center of the MBR of the selected objects.

Lock Anchor Point Position

Check this option if you do not want the anchor point to be recomputed the next time the dialog box is open. The X/Y values will be remain the same next time the dialog box is opened. If left unchecked, the default anchor rotation point will be used to initialize the dialog box.

If Rotate Objects is done from a Map, and the selection is changed to the opposite type of window (layout or map), the anchor point will be recomputed due to extreme coordinate conversions.
