A curved label does not draw when a polyline bends too sharply at the location where the label is to be placed. You can specify that MapInfo Pro find the most suitable location along a polyline when this happens. MapInfo Pro draws the label at one of the best three positions that it finds. If the label cannot be drawn at one of these positions, then it falls back to the normal curved label location and then to a rotated label if Allow rotated as fallback is on.

To specify that MapInfo Pro auto position curved labels along a polyline:

  1. Double-click the layer name in the Explorer window to open the Layer Properties dialog box.
  2. On the Labeling Rules tab, select Curved as the orientation.
  3. Select the Auto position along line check box. Optionally, select the Allow rotated as fallback check box.

When MapInfo Pro auto positions a curved label, it gives priority to the most horizontal and to the smoothest sections of the polyline. The following shows a roads layer before and after selecting Auto position along line.
