For the Ironstream Service Mapping app to map the CIs created by Ironstream to a service, an Service Instances needs to be created so CIs can be mapped to it. Service Instances need to be created manually; services created by the ServiceNow built-in discovery tool cannot currently be used by this app.

To create a new service, perform the following steps:

  1. If you are using Yokohama or later, search for Service Instances and select the Configuration > Service Instances option.

Note: If you are using an older edition search for Application Service and select the Configuration > Application Service option.

  1. Click the New button.

  2. Provide a service name.

For a ServiceNow instance that looks like this screenshot:

  1. Click Next button to move to Populate the Application Service section.

  2. On the next tab, Click on Choose a Method.

  3. For the Service Population Method, select Manual.

  1. For the Class, select IBM Mainframe LPAR.

The Service requires an initial IBM Mainframe LPAR as an entry point. You do not need to add all the LPARs required for this service as entry points. LPARs that match the patterns associated with this service will be added to the service when the Scheduled Job is run. Any LPARs that do not match the patterns will be removed. Therefore, this service only requires a LPAR to complete its creation.

  1. Use the CI search field to select an IBM Mainframe LPAR as an entry point.

  2. When complete, click Save at the bottom of the page.

  3. Click Next in the upper right corner to move to Preview the Service section.

  4. Click Done to create the Service.

This service is now ready for patterns to be associated with it.
