Filtering messages on the agent

Message filtering is performed on the z/OS agent to reduce the amount of network traffic to the Proxy Server. For details about message filtering, see the description of the FILTER mainframe console command in Appendix A and the FILTER SYSIN parameter card in the Installation Guide.

Filtering messages on the ServiceNow instance

Messages received from the mainframe node are passed through the Proxy Server to the ServiceNow instance. Although most mainframe system and application messages consist of a message ID and message text, the free form capacity of mainframe messages does not require this format.

The default event rule (with the lowest Order priority of 9999) is named “EV390 Default” and will create an alert for all messages that arrive from the mainframe. Alert generation can be prevented by checking the “Ignore events that match this filter” box in the EV390 Default’s Event Filter section.
