External CASS support refers to the ability of VeriMove to use external software such as Finalist or CODE-1 Plus to perform CASS processing. Using external CASS is required if you are executing the job on z/OS or IBM i. If you are executing the job on Windows, Unix, or Linux, you can use external CASS or internal CASS. For information on internal CASS, see Using Internal CASS Using Internal CASS".

To perform external CASS processing, follow these steps.

  1. In the VeriMove main window, double-click the job you want.
  2. Click the CASS tab.
  3. Select External CASS Processing.
  4. To set up external CASS, complete the following fields
  • Rural Route/Highway Contract — Select the option that indicates the location of the rural route/highway contract number after external CASS processing.
    • Route Default — Rural route/highway contract number is located in the default location which is the Street Name field.
    • Route Number in Unit — Rural route/highway contract number is located in the Unit field.
    • Box Number in Unit — P.O. Box number is located in the Unit field. Click Route Number in Range if your rural route number is located in the Range field. if you select Box Number in Unit but do not select Route Number in Range, the rural route/highway contract is located in the Range Field.
P.O. Box
Select the option that indicates the location of the P.O. Box after external CASS processing.
  • Default — P.O. Box is located in the default location which is the Street Address Line field.
  • Box Number in Unit — P.O. Box is located in the Unit field.
  • Box Number in Street — P.O. Box is located in the Street field.
Statistics Source
Select the method to use to provide CASS statistics from the external CASS processor to VeriMove.
  • Use Statistics In Input Field(s) — Select this option if you want to provide the CASS statistics in a field in your input file. If you are executing the job on z/OS or IBM i you must choose this option. You must also choose this option if you have a Full Service Provider license for NCOALink. When you select this option you must add the CASS - Detail Result Indicators field to your input definition (using the Input Definition tab). For more information, see Configuring Your External CASS Product.
  • Use Manually Registered Statistics — You may select this option if you are going to run the job on Windows and you have either an End User or Limited Service Provider license for NCOALink. This option is most useful if your external CASS product cannot produce the output layout required by the Detail Results Indicators field. See Configuring Your External CASS Product for the specific requirements. If you choose this option, click Edit and enter the name and version of the software, as well as the release date for the USPS data, for the CASS, DPV, LACSLink, and SuiteLink processors. See Entering External CASS Information for details.

In addition, see Additional Steps for Manually Registered Statistics for more configuration steps you must follow.

Note: If you choose Use Manually Registered Statistics, you must manually update the date of the USPS data each time you update the data. You also must manually update the name and version of the external CASS product whenever these items change. To avoid having to make these manual updates, choose Use Statistics in Input Field(s) if possible.

The Use Statistics in Input Field(s) option provides detailed matching results for each record, whereas the Use Manually Registered Statistics option provides global statistics. Full Service Provider licensees must provide record-by-record matching statistics. Full Service Providers are required to select the Use Statistics in Input Field(s) option.
