An output definition describes the fields that will be created in your output records. VeriMove uses the information in your input definition and output definition to determine the items listed next.
- The field names
- The starting position of each field
- The length of each field
Building accurate output definitions is critical to your success with VeriMove. When the output definition is accurate, VeriMove returns the Move Update data needed to qualify for postal discounts.
If the records to be processed are from within your organization, the output definition (and input definition) need to be set up only once. The only time the definitions need to be changed is when the format of the records change. If some or all of the files to be processed are from outside your organization (for example, if your organization is a service bureau), a new output definition (and input definition) may need to be set up for each of your customers. If your customers change their record layout, then the definitions used on those records need to be changed.
