The fuzzy or rough search function enables you to search for an organization or person using a partial name and address. However, unlike other SAP standard search options, it performs postal validation and creates window keys. Therefore, the search can retrieve records with the same window keys from the database for the reference matching process in Trillium Quality.
This is the same process as duplicate check; the difference is in the matcher business rules, which are not as tightly defined to accommodate the partially entered name and address. Sample business rules for fuzzy/rough search are established in the configuration file TrilSAP001.cfg.
The fuzzy/rough search performs separate duplicate checking on the name from the address entered. That is, it presents the search results based on the name or based on the address, but not based on the name together with the address.
As an example of the fuzzy/rough search, assume the name and address is “Trillium
Software at 300 Concord Rd, Billerica, MA, 01821
.” If you enter only the
name “Trillium
,” the search results present a list of potential
duplicates based on name only.
If you enter only the address “300 Concord Rd, Billerica, MA,
01821,”
the search results present a different list of potential duplicates.
This list is based on address only.
If you enter the name and address “Trillium, 300 Concord Rd, Billerica, MA
01821
,” the search results present another list of potential duplicates,
based on name and address.
