You can start a Director or server from either tab in the Director System Manager, but starting from the Service Directory tab is more convenient.
To start a Director or server
Click the Service Directory tab and select the host.
Right-click the Director or server and select Start. A message displays advising you that the service has been invoked to start running.
If an error occurs, check the Event Viewer (described in Launching Windows Administrative Tools) for event details, or select Help > Troubleshooting to check the log file associated with the process.
Note: To view a log of Director start and initialization messages, right-click a Director in either
the Realtime View or Service Directory tab and select View Log. Note that the
Remote Registry service must be started in order for the DSM to display the log. On
Windows 7 systems, by default, the Remote Registry service must be manually
started.
