When working with ODBC:

  • Install the ODBC Data Provider and create the DSN on Windows only, on a system with or without the Trillium server installed.

  • The DSN you create must be on the same Windows system as your instance of Excel.

  • The Trillium Reporting Adapter support both Windows authentication and Trillium authentication repository security models.

  • After you load data into Excel, when metadata in the repository is modified, these changes are reflected when you refresh the worksheet in Excel. You can modify data refresh settings for each data connection. (See Editing Refresh Properties in Excel.)

  • All queries are installed with the Trillium server software.

When working with OLE DB:
  • The Control Center must be installed on the same system as your instance of Excel so that the client libraries are available. The Control Center does not need to be running when you connect to the repository.
  • The Trillium Reporting Adapter support both Windows authentication and Trillium authentication repository security models.
