You can change the name, description, notes, and join analysis status of any entity you have created.

To edit an entity

  1. In Navigation View, click the Entities tab on the Discover bar.
  2. Right-click the name of the entity and select Edit Entity Details. The Edit Entity Input window opens.
  3. Make the modifications you need, according to the following table.
    Field Description
Name Enter a new name for the entity. This is the only field that is filled in during the entity creation process.
Business Description Enter a business description for the entity. For example, if this entity is the master customer file for all marketing activities, enter that information here.
    Pre-Processing Rules

Enter a description of any file preparation that occurred prior to importing this entity. Examples of this type of information include data import sampling options, removing REDEFINES clauses, etc.

    Include in Joins

Place a check in the box if you want this entity to be included in join analysis.

This setting does not affect the Create Join functionality.

  4. Modify the Upload Loader Connection Login Details section to update the Loader Connection login information. The information is used to access a dynamic entity. In case the password is modified or the user name becomes inactive, you can update the login information so that the associated entity is usable.
    • In the Username text box, enter the updated user name.
    • In the Password text box, enter the updated password.
Note: The Upload Loader Connection Details section is grayed out for entities created without a loader connection (that is, for entities created from the client).
  5. Click OK to save the changes.
