Attributes form the data columns of an entity (table/file). Trillium discovers attribute lengths during the creation of an entity in a repository. This information is accessible as entity metadata from the Navigation View or the Summary Data View (on the Structural Summary tab).

To display statistics for attribute length from Navigation View

  1. In the Navigation View, click the Discover bar, then click the Entities tab.
  2. Expand the entity with which you want to work.
  3. Double-click an attribute.

The Entity Member Attribute List View opens. Look for the following statistics:

    Metadata

    Description

    Min Len

    Shortest length

    Max Len

    Longest length

You can drill down on each attribute length statistic to see how many times a particular attribute length occurs in an entity. You can then drill down further to identify attributes that have the same length.

  4. Double-click an attribute length metadata statistic—Min len or Max len.
The Values List View shows all attributes with values of the selected Min or Max length.

    If you select

    List View shows

    Min len

all attribute values with the shortest length

    Max len

all attribute values with the longest length

  5. To see attribute values of the same length, select one or more rows by clicking and highlighting the row(s).
  6. Right-click and select Drill down to matching rows.

This displays all attributes that have values of the same length as the row(s) selected.
