Examining patterns is helpful when identifying format deviations in your data. If you have attributes that need to conform to a fixed format, such a date or currency format, you can examine patterns to find inconsistencies and errors.
You may find that you need to examine attribute rows and understand the context of a pattern before you can determine whether a pattern is correct or not. See Default, Rich, and Long Patterns for information about choices for pattern encoding.
