After you discover dependency conflicts within an entity and explore them further by drilling down to matching rows for a LHS (Left-Hand Side) attribute, you can then resolve one or more conflicts by viewing the LHS and RHS (Right-Hand Side) values and determining which existing or new value resolves the conflict.

When you resolve dependency conflicts, you minimize the confusion created by conflicting values and establish rules for correcting conflicts.

To resolve dependency conflicts

  1. Open a Dependencies List View.
  2. Right-click a dependency that shows conflicts and select Drill down to Conflicts.

The Dependency Conflicts List View opens.

  3. Right-click a dependency conflict row and select Resolve Conflicts....

The Dependency Conflict Resolution window opens.

Note: Conflicts are grouped by equal LHS values. When you highlight a row within a group of dependency conflicts and select Resolve Conflicts, the RHS value for that row will be selected as the RHS value to resolve the conflict(s). This value is displayed in the RHS: text box of the Dependency Conflict Resolution window allowing you to choose a preferred RHS value from among those listed against the same LHS value.
  4. In the Dependency Conflict Resolution window, accept the RHS value displayed or enter a different RHS value to resolve the conflict. The window displays the LHS value on which the RHS value depends.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Dependencies Conflict List View, verify that the resolved conflict is correct. The Resolved? field will display Yes if a conflict no longer exists.
