Each transformation rule you create will be stored and listed in the Library of Stored Transformation Rules. This allows you to create new conditions and rules quickly using the existing transformation rules. When you create a rule using the library, you effectively create an exact clone of a rule. When you attempt to edit a rule that has been used more than once within a process, you will get a warning. If you edit a rule that has been reused, every single occurrence of that rule within the process will be changed.

Each Transformer process and Input and Output Conditional tab has its own Library of Stored Transformation Rules. Libraries cannot be shared between different processes or projects. However rules can be copied between processes or projects using copy/paste.

Note: You can use copy/paste if you want to make copies of rules without cloning them. If you edit a copied rule then the original rule will not be modified.

To reuse existing transformation rules

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the Transformer process and select Edit Process. You can also double-click the process to open it for editing.
  2. Select the Input Conditionals tab for the input data transformation. Select the Output Conditionals tab for the output data transformation.
  3. Create or select a condition.
  4. Right-click within the Transformation rules pane (right-hand side) and select Add > Existing. The Library of Stored Transformation Rules opens.

    Example

  5. Select a rule or multiple rules from the library.
  6. Click Add. The transformation rules you selected are added to the condition.
  7. Click Finish.
