Once you create an Attribute Scan rule, you can add a group of similar rules using the Duplicate Scan function. For example, you may want to replace a certain old value with a new value in a series of attributes. Instead of copying and pasting the same scan rule many times and then change just the name of the attribute, you can make a number of duplicates with different attributes in one step.

To duplicate a scan rule

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the Transformer process and select Edit Process. You can also double-click the process to open it for editing.
  2. Select the Output Conditionals tab.
  3. Select the scan rule you want to duplicate.
  4. Right-click and select Duplicate Scan.... The Duplicate Attribute Scan windows opens.

    Example

In this example, the original scan rule is to delete the Literal value "-" (a hyphen) from the Account Number attribute. When you select Duplicate Scan..., you will see the following window.

The first block is an original read-only copy of the selected scan. The second block is a copy for editing. Only the settings that are used in the original scan rule are editable.

  5. Make necessary changes to the editable copy. If you are making only one duplicate, click Finish after editing. If you are making more duplicates, click Duplicate and edit more rules.

    Example

In this example, the same scan rule (Delete hyphens) is duplicated for the Phone and Postcode attributes.

  6. Click Finish after all duplicates are specified. All rules are displayed in the Output Conditional window.

    Example

  7. Click Finish to save the changes.
