You can select and merge multiple attributes in the output schema to create a new output attribute that has the original attributes as its sub-attributes. For example, you have two attributes in the output schema: House Number and Street. You can merge these to create a new attribute called Address which will have House Number and Street as its sub-attributes.

Note: This method can only be used on attributes that are not inherited.

To redefine an attribute by merging

  1. Select two or more attributes to merge.
  2. Right-click and select Advanced > Merge Selected Attributes. The Concatenate Attributes window displays.
  3. Specify New Attribute Name and optionally enter a comment. The Schema Editor merges the selected attributes into the new attribute. The new attribute will have the same offset as the first of the selected attributes and its length will correspond to the total length of all the selected attributes. The originally selected attributes will be deleted.
  4. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the process and select Apply Schema Changes.
  5. When the message box appears, click OK.
