A Business Rules process can be added to a Quality workflow to analyze EBRs in the input data or the output of the Load process. After you run the process, you drill down from the output entity and view the results. You can also add an Analysis or Load process branch off the output entity.

Note: Before you can add a Business Rules process to a Load process, you must first run the Load process.
Note: Before running a Business Rules process, you must add EBRs to the input entity.

To add and run a Business Rules process and view results

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the project's input entity or the output from a Load process and select Add process branch. The Create Process window opens.
  2. In Process selection, select Business Rules.
  3. Click OK. The Business Rules process branch is added to the flow. A dotted line connects the input entity to the process. In the Navigation View, the new process displays at the end of the list of processes.
  4. Right-click the process and select Edit process. The Process Settings window opens, showing a list of all EBRs in the input entity. If the list is empty, no EBRs have been created for the entity. (To add a rule to the entity, right-click the entity and select Tools > Business rules > Add entity business rule.)
  5. Select the EBRs you want to re-analyze from the list. Click Select All to add all available business rules or Deselect All to clear all rules. Click OK.
  6. Right-click the process and select Run. The Execute Process message opens.
  7. (Optional) Select Include dependent processes to execute all processes that are branched off the current process. Select Use pipes. For details about using pipes, see the guidelines in Profiling Processes.
  8. Click Run.
  9. When the process finishes, right-click the output entity and select Drill down to data. The Data Rows List View opens.

To the right of the attribute columns, columns correlating to the analyzed rules display. The values in the columns reflect the rule results for each data row in the entity. Passing rules return one (1) and failing rules return zero (0). If the column contains no values, an error may have occurred when the rule was analyzed.
