The Global Data Router scans input data that contains records from more than one country and identifies the country-specific data. You can then perform analysis or other processing at a country-specific level. The Global Data Router performs these functions:

  • Uses rules files that contain country-related word definitions and tables.
  • Specifies how many output files to generate and for which countries.
  • Uses a country code attribute to identify and score the country of origin.
  • Uses settings to determine which attributes to inspect when there is no valid country code or the country code is suspect.

Depending on how you configure the Global Data Router (during project creation or via the Adjust Router Countries command), the process can:

  • Create a single output without process flows and without a no-match output entity.
  • Create a single output without process flows but with a no-match output entity.
  • Create a separate output for each country without process flows and without a no-match output entity.
  • Create a separate output for each country without process flows but with a no-match output entity.
  • Create a separate output for each country with process flows for specified countries but without a no-match output entity.
  • Create a separate output for each country with process flows for specified countries and create a no-match output entity.

The Global Data Router creates the Save Country output attribute that contains the code for the country it identified. The default length of the Save Country attribute is 2. If you want to change the length, use the Schema Editor to modify it. You need to edit the output schema for each output entity.

Note: If the project includes more than one country, you must specify the Router's input attributes before running the first Transformer.

The Global Data Router uses rules files that control decisions on how data is used to identify the country of origin. You can edit those rule files to control decisions, such as how data is matched and what country data is identified, by specifying the parameters. In addition to the rules files, the Router uses the system tables (Global Geography Tables: GLOBRTR.len/ben and APGLBRTR.tbl) that contain data specific to a country. The Global Geography Tables are read-only and may not be changed.
