Most attribute transformations are defined within the Transformation process. The function is included in the CDP process in case you encounter an unforeseen problem. Rather than forcing you to return to the Transformer process, edit it, and then rerun all the records, TS Quality enables you to fix the problem at the CDP level.

After you create Join/Split/Set rules, you can delete or arrange them in the desired execution order. The rules are processed from top to bottom in the order shown in the list.

When you delete Join/Split/Set rules, they are not removed entirely from the process. Deleting will simply remove the rule from the condition associated with it so that the rule will not be executed. A "deleted" rule still exists in the process and can be reused by using the Add > Existing option. If you want to remove transformation rules completely from the process, you must use the Remove Unused Operations option.

To transform attributes

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the Customer Data Parser process and select Edit Process.
  2. Select the Options menu option.
  3. Click Advanced and select the Join/Split/Set option. The Join/Split/Set window opens, listing all previously defined operations.
  4. Right-click anywhere in the Join/Split/Set window and select Add > New > Attribute Transformation. The Set Attribute window opens.
  5. In the Description field, enter a brief but meaningful description for the attribute transformation you are defining. The description is used to identify the operation so you can refer to it in the Join/Split/Set window.
  6. From the drop-down list for the Set Attribute field, select the attribute to which you want to apply the transformation rule.
  7. Click the Build expression... button ( ). The Set Attribute to Expression window opens.
  8. Create the expression as explained in the topic Setting Attributes Using the Expression Builder.
  9. Click OK and then click Finish to save your settings.
