If necessary, you can change the default character encoding and date format for the following BDP files:

  • Delimiters control file
  • Characters control file
  • Customized definitions file
  • Ignore words file

For example, if you were using a delimiters control file that originated from Turkey, you might change the encoding to CP1254.

Note: By default, the encoding value for each file is the operating system's native encoding.

For lists of values and descriptions, see Encoding (Code Page) and Date Format.

To specify an encoding value

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the Business Data Parser process and select Edit Process. The BDP edit window opens.
  2. Click Encodings. The Encodings window displays.
  3. Click the drop-down list for the file you want to change, and select the encoding value appropriate for the file. The default value for the delimiters and characters control files is NOTRANS (no translation).
  4. Click Finish to save the settings and close the BDP edit window.
