Examining the Length of Rows - trillium_discovery - trillium_quality - Latest

Rows form the records of an entity (table/file). Trillium discovers row lengths during the creation of an entity in a repository and also tracks row length distribution. This information is stored as entity metadata, accessible from List Views and Summary Data Views.

To examine row length, frequency, and distribution metadata from Summary Data Views

1. In the Navigation View, click the Discover bar, then click the Entities tab.
2. Click an entity.

   The Summary Data View for the selected entity displays.

3. Click the Structural Summary tab.

   The Row Length Distribution chart shows the trend for the top 20 rows with longest length.

4. Click Row Properties.

   The Row Properties section expands, showing the following metadata:

   • Minimum Row Length. Shortest row length value
   • Maximum Row Length. Longest row length
5. To examine row length frequency and distribution percentage: Click Minimum Row Length or Maximum Row Length.

   The Original Row Length List View opens, showing the following columns:

   • Value. The value of the row length in bytes (either max or min).
   • Frequency. How many times the row length occurs in the entity.
   • Dist %. The measurement of the row value across attributes in the entity.
6. To examine all row lengths in the entity: Under View Details click Row Lengths (or click the Row Length Distribution chart).

   The Original Row Lengths List View opens. Note the metadata across the Value, Frequency, and Dist % columns.

7. To examine all rows of the same length, select one or more rows, right-click, and select Drill down to Matching Rows.

   This displays all rows that have the same length as the row(s) selected.
