Effective in July 2015, Ireland has started a new postal code system, Eircode. An Eircode is a unique code designed to accurately identify the location of an address, and is assigned to each residential and business address. Existing postal addresses have been assigned Eircodes.
An Eircode is a seven character alpha-numeric code made up of two parts: routing key and unique identifier. For example, an Eircode "A65F4E2" consists of the routing key "A65" and the unique identifier "F4E2." A routing key consists of three characters and defines a principal post town span of delivery. A unique identifier is unique to an address and distinguishes one address from another.
Refer to the official website of Irish Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (www.eircode.ie) for details on the Eircode system.
Guidelines
- Directory Browser displays Eircode but you may need to drill down all the way to the Premise level to display it.
- If Eircode is present in the input data, it will be returned in GA_GOUT_POSTAL_CODE. Even if it is not present in the input data, it may be returned by the Postal Matcher in GA_GOUT_POSTAL_CODE.
