After you display the information in a List View, you can save the data to an external file either on your local drive or on the repository server. The available file formats are:

  • XML file
  • HTML file (not available when exporting to the server)
  • Comma-separated value (CSV) file
  • Delimited text (TXT) file
  • TSQ (with DDL or with DDX) file
Guidelines:
  • You can save all rows in a List View or only selected rows.
  • You cannot save List View data as an internal file, because all data imported to a List View is a virtual image of your data source, and it cannot be modified using a save command.

Export Rows to a File on your Local Drive

To export rows to a file on your local drive

  1. Display in a List View the data that you want to save to an external file.
  2. (Optional) Select the rows you want to save.
  3. Right-click the List View and select Export > All Rows or Export > Selected Rows. The Save As window opens.
  4. Browse to the directory in which you want to store the saved file or accept the default directory.
  5. In File name, type a name for the export file.
  6. For Save as type, select a file format.
Note: If you select the Delimited option, the Set Delimiter window opens.
  7. For Save with encoding, select the code page you want used on the exported file.
  8. Click Save.

Export Rows to a File on your Repository Server

To export rows to a file on your repository server

  1. Display in a List View the data that you want to save to an external file.
  2. (Optional) Select the rows you want to save.
  3. Right-click the List View and select Export to Server > All Rows or Export to Server > Selected Rows. The Export to Server window opens.
  4. In File name, type a name for the export file. The file will be exported to the export directory on the repository server (for example, C:/ProgramData/Trillium Software /MBSW/ version /Data/export). You cannot change this directory but, if needed, you can create a new directory under it before exporting the file.
  5. For Save as type, select a file format.
Note: If you select the Delimited option, the Set Delimiter window opens.
  6. For Encoding, select the code page you want used on the exported file. (The default is Server Native.)
  7. Click OK. The scheduler notification bar opens.
  8. (Optional) Change the job name.
  9. Do one of the following:
    • To schedule the job to run immediately, click Now. The message closes and the job begins running in the background.
    • Click Later. The Set Date & Time scheduler window opens. To immediately run the job in the background, click Run Now. To schedule a time, select a starting date on the calendar and select a time you want the job to run on the selected date. Click Submit to save the scheduled time.
    • Click Cancel to cancel the task.
