You can export the data schema for any entity that displays in your Navigation View. The following are the available output formats:

  • Data Dictionary Language (DDL) file – ANSI format
  • TS Quality Data Dictionary Language (DDL) file
  • XML file
  • Data delimited file
  • COBOL Copybook

You can use exported schema files, along with an exported List View data file, to do the following:

  • Load data into CASE tools
  • Create relational databases
  • Transfer data to another application
  • Import back into Trillium

To export schema from the Navigation View

  1. In the Navigation View, select an entity for which you want to export the schema.
  2. Right-click and select Generate Schema.
  3. Select the type of output file to generate.
    Options:

    Schema Type

    Description of the entity as…

    SQL

    ANSI DDL

    This option does not include distinctness or check constraints, deletion, or updates to cascade rules, or creation of index statements.
    TSQ

    TS Quality proprietary schema

    TSQ DDX

    TS Quality proprietary data exchange format schema

    XML

    Extensible Markup Language (XML) tagged file format

    Delimited

    Column headings

    COBOL

    COBOL Copybook

    The Save As window opens.

  4. Identify the destination directory.
  5. Type a File name for the schema.
  6. Click Save.

    The output file contains a data schema that describes the entity you selected in the Navigation View.
