Notes provide a way to collaborate within and across teams which need information about your projects. The Control Center provides a template for building notes that allows you to incorporate and follow the best practices of your site and to help you group and share notes by related topics, priorities, and business groups.
Notes can be added to the following objects:
- Baseline Analysis and TS Quality projects
- Attributes
- Entities
- Permanent joins
- TS Quality processes and output entities
Use notes to:
- Request and provide information to business users. As a best practice, insert into the subject of the note topic labels such as ASSUMPTION, ISSUE, ALERT, or QUESTION. When the issue is resolved, or the questions answered, you can edit the note with result or answer.
- Distribute information about data objects. As a best practice, add detailed information about a project, an entity, attribute or permanent join. For example, if you created a permanent (saved) join that requires a data merge to occur during an integration project, you can create a note that describes when and where the merge should take place, and how non-matching and duplicate records should be handled.
Each note has areas in which you define:
- Subject
- Class and Subclass
- Business and project impact
- Metrics
- New Text
Note: You can copy and paste data examples into the note.
Note: Notes cannot be added to objects in the Library.
Note: You cannot create notes for Time Series Analysis projects, but you can for the entities
they contain.
