The following table lists the menu options available when you right-click an entity in the Navigation View.

Note: You can delete an entity from a List or Icon View. Entities cannot be deleted from the Navigation View.

Option

Description

Drill down to rows

Opens a Data Rows List View that shows all data rows contained in the selected entity. You can also double-click the entity icon to drill down to rows.

Drill down to metadata

Opens an Entity List View with metadata values for the selected entity.

Drill down to attributes

Opens an Entity Member Attributes List View that displays all attributes for the selected entity.

Drill down to derived metadata rules

Opens the Derived Metadata Rules List View that displays the status of joins, metaphones, patterns, soundexes, masks, phrases, and indexes analysis.

Business rules

  • Drill down to entity business rules. Opens the Entity Business Rules List View displaying all EBRs contained in the current entity.
  • Drill down to all business rules. Opens the Business Rules List View displaying all ABRs and EBRs contained in the current entity.
  • Add entity business rule. Opens the Entity Business Rule Expression Builder. Use this window to choose expression elements for EBR creation.
  • Manage categories. Opens the Add/Edit Category window. Use this window to add and edit categories and subcategories.
  • Manage priorities. Opens the Add/Edit Priority window. Use this window to add and edit priorities.

Edit entity

Opens the Edit Entity window.

Analyze Pending Derived Metadata Rules…

Lets you run or schedule a derived metadata rule analysis for the selected entity. Running an analysis gives you information about attribute statistics. Select from three options:

  • Run Now. Starts the analysis job immediately
  • Run Later>>. Copies All permanent joins. Opens a Schedule Job window in which you can select a data and time to run the job
  • Cancel. Cancels this activity

Copy metadata to a new entity

Lets you copy the metadata (including business rules) from the selected entity to a new entity, as follows:

  1. Select one of the following options to determine how much joins information is copied:
    • Self Joins. Copies only permanent self joins
    • All Joins. Copies all permanent joins
    • No Joins. No joins are copied
  2. You are asked to confirm that you want to copy this entity. Click Yes.

To view the copied entity, click the Entities tab in the Navigation View.

Check entity compliance Opens the Compliance Check window which shows the compliance of the entity with all associated EBRs as well as how each attribute in the entity complies with associated ABRs.

Discover keys or dependencies

Opens the Discover Keys or Dependencies window which lets you re-analyze the selected entity to find keys or to find dependencies.

Create key or dependency

Opens the Create Key or Dependency window that lets you create new keys or dependencies for the selected entity.

Notes

Lets you add or view notes. You can choose to:

  • Add…. Opens the New Note window in which you can add a note to the selected entity
  • Drill down to notes. Opens the Notes List View and shows the notes for the selected entity
  • Drill down to all notes. Opens the Notes List View and shows all notes for the selected entity and/or notes for those repository objects associated with the entity

Audit

Opens the Event Log List View. There are two view options:

  • Drill down to events. Event Log shows the date on which the entity was created and by whom
  • Drill down to all events. Event Log shows all dates on which processes were run for the selected entity and its related repository objects - attributes and rows

Manage user access

Opens the Manage User Access - Entity window that lets you add and remove the Users who have access to the selected entity. You must have repository administrator privileges to use this option. (Trillium-authenticated security environments only.)

Load data…

This option is active for dynamic entities and entities created using the Copy Metadata to a new Entity option from another entity. Loads the data into the repository with original settings specified when the entity was created.

Note: Option not available from an entity in a Time Series project.

Generate Schema

Generates one of several file formats that you can use as the schema file for the selected entity. The options are:

  • SQL.ANSI Data Dictionary Language (DDL)
Note: The following will not be generated: distinctness or check constraints, delete or update cascade rules, and create index statements.
  • TSQ. TS Quality proprietary schema
  • DDX. TS Quality DDX file
  • XML. Extensible Markup Language (XML) tagged file format
  • Delimited. Delimiter-separated values; stored as arrays of data by separating values in each row using delimiter characters
  • Cobol. COBOL copybook; defines the physical layout of data (file schema)

Time Series Analysis

  • Create project... Opens the Create Time Series Project window
  • Add Entity to Existing time series analysis.
Note: Option not available from an entity in a Time Series project.

Create Quality project

Opens the Create Quality Project window from which you create a Quality project using the selected entity.

Copy entity

Option is not available when you initially open an entity.

Navigate

If the Navigation View is open, navigates to this entity under the Entity tab and expands it to show the attributes.

Security

Opens the Permissions for Entity Security window that lets you modify security privileges for the selected entity. You must be the entity creator or have permissions privileges to use this option. (Windows-authenticated security environments only.)
