When you have multiple entities in a repository, it may be important to locate the data and schema import directories for an entity and to determine the type of data source from which it originated.

The following table describes entity source properties:

Metadata

Description

Source Type

Data source type for current entity. Values are:

  • COBOL Flat File
  • Delimited File (No labels)
  • Delimited File (with labels)
  • Delimited File (with DDL)
  • RDBM

Data Source

Name of source file or table for the current entity.

Schema/Schema Name

Names of the schema source file and the entity schema. Available only for non-relational data sources.

You view entity source properties in either a List View or Summary Data View.

To view source information in a metadata List View

  1. In the Navigation View, click the Discover bar, then click the Entities tab.
  2. Right-click the entity with which you want to work, and select Drill down to metadata.

    The Entity Metadata List View opens.

  3. Locate the metadata rows Data Source, Schema, Schema Name, and Source Type and note their corresponding values.

View source information in a Summary Data View

To view source information in a Summary Data View

  1. In the Navigation View, click the entity with which you want to work.

    The Summary Data View for the selected entity opens. (If the view does not open, click the Metadata Summaries icon on the Home tab.)

  2. Click the About tab, and click Source Properties to view the Data Source and Source Type for the current entity.
  3. Click the Structural Summary tab, and click Schema Properties to view the Schema Name and File Name.
