A percentile is a rank which indicates the position of an attribute value in terms of percentage in a particular attribute in sorted order. For example, if the attribute values are sorted, a value at percent rank 20% is the value below which 20 percent of the attribute values are found.
To view the results of percentile analysis, examine the percent rank statistics for data values of an attribute. See Examining Percentiles.
Note the following:
- You calculate the percentiles for your numeric data when you run analysis on an attribute in a real entity and select the Percentile option.
- You must run attribute analysis with percentiles before you can build business rules in the Expression Builder using the PERCENTRANK, MEDIAN and QUARTILES statistics functions.
- Percentile analysis is not run by default when you load data. For information about analyzing attributes, see Modifying Attribute Properties.
- Percentile is not calculated for attributes that do not contain any numeric data.
