After you copy metadata to a new, empty (dynamic) entity, follow this procedure to add data to it.

To load data into an empty entity

  1. In the Navigation View, right-click an empty entity with this icon .
  2. Select one of the following options:

    Option

    Description

    Load Data...

    Loads the data into the repository with original settings specified when the entity was created.

    Load Data with Options...

    With this option, you change the data source and the sampling settings:

    1. In the Dynamic View Properties window, for Data source either keep the original source or click Modify and choose a new data source.
    2. At Sample settings, keep the original setting or click Modify to specify data sampling settings in the Sample parameters window.

    1. (Optional) If you are loading data from a relational data source (DB2, Oracle, or ODBC-compliant database), you have the option to selectively retrieve data by defining an SQL where clause. For information, see Filtering Relational Database Data.
    2. Click OK and run or schedule the job.

  3. Open a List View of the new entity and verify the data loaded correctly.
  4. If expected attributes do not display, open the Choose Columns window (right-click a column title and select Choose Columns) and move any hidden columns into the Displayed fields list.
