Deleting a library rule and all associations with real entities and attributes permanently removes the rule. When you delete library rules you are prompted to disassociate the rule from associated entities or attributes.

Guidelines: Note the following when deleting library rules:
  • Disassociating a rule leaves the rule in the real entity or attribute, and removes any connection to the Library.
  • If you do not disassociate from any entities or attributes, the rule is deleted completely from the repository. But, for example, if the rule is associated to five entities/attributes and you disassociate it from only one entity/attribute, all instances of that rule will be deleted except for the one in the entity/attribute that was disassociated.
  • When you disassociate at least one library rule from a real attribute or entity, all rules in the library attribute or entity are disassociated.
  • You must have permissions to view entities with which the rules are associated, otherwise you cannot delete the rule. You must also have Delete privileges for the rule you want to delete.

To delete a library rule

  1. Click the Library tab and expand Business Rules.
  2. Expand Entity Business Rules or Attribute Business Rules, depending on the type of library rule you want to delete.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Under Entity Business Rules, right-click an entity and select Open rules or Open rules in new window.
    • Under Attribute Business Rules, right-click an attribute and select Open or open in new window.

    A Library Rules view opens.

  4. Select one or more rules, then right-click and select Delete.

    The Delete Rule window opens.

  5. Click the Disassociate box for each entity and entity/attribute that you want to disassociate from the rule.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Confirm the rules are deleted from the Navigation View. If needed, open a view of the disassociated entity or attribute to verify disassociated rules display.
