Business rules are business-centric data expressions that define how a business manages information to achieve data quality goals. In the financial services and risk compliance industry, they can become complex expressions and often times there will be hundreds of rules. You may have to frequently update the rules to keep up with changes in regulatory laws or to profile large amounts of raw data that are added to the system.
In order to manage and run business rules efficiently and achieve your data quality goals, you can:
- Create searches to identify specific business rules using the Expression Builder. The search is performed over all business rules (regardless of whether it has been promoted to a library business rule or not). The search also lists rules created by all users.
- Save your searches.
- Re-run frequently used searches.
- Copy searches to create new ones.
Saving a search allows for better rules exploration and business rules management since it allows execution of only a specific group/subcategory of rules on a certain group of entities. This is specially useful when you are dealing with a large amount of data associated with numerous entities and business rules.
You can also use the Business Rules Search Engine to search for all rules in the repository. See Searching Business Rules for more information.
