Use this procedure to remove associations between library entities and real entities. This procedure does not delete the rules from the entity, only the link to the library rules. After you disassociate entities, the rules in the real entity become stand-alone entity business rules with no connections to the Library.

Note: You cannot associate or disassociate individual EBRs. Associations occur at the entity level.

There are three ways to disassociate entities:

  • From the Entity Business Rules List View (disassociates all derived EBRs associated with the library entity)
  • From the Library Entities Icon View
  • When you edit a rule in the Library Rules window. For more information about this method, see Editing Library Rules.

To view entity associations, right-click a library rule or library entity in either the Navigation View or List View, and select Open Associated Entities.

To disassociate entities from the Entity Business Rules List View
  1. In the Navigation View, click the Entities tab.
  2. Right-click the entity you want to disassociate and select Business rules > Drill down to entity business rules. The Entity Business Rules List View opens.
  3. Right-click a rule that has been derived from a library entity and select Library Rules > Disassociate. A Confirm message opens listing the entities that will be disassociated. If the disassociation will create duplicate rule names in the entities, a message displays regarding renaming the rules.
  4. Click Ok to disassociate the library entity from the entity. The derived rules are now disconnected from the Library and can be edited and re-analyzed as needed.

To disassociate entities from the Library Entities Icon View

  1. In the Navigation View, click the Library tab.
  2. Expand Business Rules.
  3. Right-click Entity Business Rules and select Open or Open in new window. The Library Entities window opens.
  4. Right-click the entity you want to disassociate and select Disassociate. The Disassociate Entity window opens. A list of associated entities displays.
  5. Select one or more entities and click Finish. If the disassociation will create duplicate rule names in the entities, a message displays regarding renaming the rules. Click OK to continue. The derived rules are now disconnected from the Library and can be edited and re-analyzed as needed.
