You can export business rule metadata from any business rule List View in various file formats. These files can be used in other applications, such as Excel.
Note the following:
- Export rules to either your local system or to a server system. The export to local system option is not available if the Repository Administrator has enabled the Disable access to file system option.
- Export either one, multiple, or all rules that display in a single List View.
- The exported file saves the data displayed in columns, therefore you may need to hide or display columns depending on what information you want to export; for example, to include the rule expression elements, ensure the column XML Predicate is a displayed field. To add or remove columns in a List View, see Displaying Hidden Columns.
- A rule's Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) remains with any exported rule regardless of whether the rule's name is modified or its Sequence Number metadata changes when imported into another repository. The UUID value is displayed in the Identifier column. The Identifier column must not be displayed in the List View when exporting.
- Exporting a rule creates one file in one of the following file formats:
-
- XML
- HTML (local system only)
- Comma-separated value (CSV)
- Tab-delimited text (TXT)
- ODQ (with DDL or with DDX)
- TSQ (with DDL or with DDX)
Note:
- This procedure is for rules not stored in the Library. For information about exporting objects from the Library, see Exporting Library Entities and Exporting Library Attributes.
- If you need to export rules to import into another repository, it is recommended that you promote the rule to the Library, and then export the associated library attribute or entity, which can then be imported into another repository.
