You add categories and subcategories in the Add/Edit Category window from the Entities tab. Categories are automatically saved as you work.

Guidelines:
  • There is no limit to the number of categories and subcategories you can add.
  • Only users with write permissions for the current repository can add categories.
  • Before you add a category or subcategory, ensure the name does not already exist. If you enter a duplicate name, you will be alerted to this and will be prompted to change it.

To add categories and subcategories

  1. From the Discover bar, right-click the Entities tab and select Manage categories. Alternatively, in the Control Center ribbon, click the Rules icon

    and then select Manage Categories.

    The Add/Edit Category window opens.

  2. Under the Categories column, click Add. The Add Category window opens.
  3. Enter a unique name for the new category.
    Note: Comma (,), colon (:), and semi colon (;) characters cannot be used in category and subcategory names. Spaces are supported.
  4. Click OK. The category is added to the Categories column.
  5. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 to add more categories as needed.
  6. To add subcategories to a category, in the Categories column select a category name .
    Note: You add subcategories one at a time, to a single category at a time.
  7. Below the Subcategories column, click Add. The Add subcategory window opens.
  8. Enter a unique name for the new subcategory and click OK. The subcategory is added.
  9. Repeat Steps 6 through 8 to add more subcategories as needed.
  10. When you are finished, click Close to exit the window.
