Attribute business rules (ABRs) act as compliance checks applied against attribute values. When enabled, these checks help track the quality and compliance of your data against your company's data quality standards.
ABRs allow you to:
- Define compliance checks at the attribute level
- Examine compliance by individual attributes
- Manage the behavior of data checks for future data loads through the Library
Guidelines
Note the following when working with ABRs:
- Use ABRs to check compliance for a single attribute's metadata, such as nulls and spaces in values, datatypes, patterns, range of values, and schema length.
- Create additional ABRs specific to data within a certain attribute and entity. These ABRs are run against only the specified attribute.
- You can modify the default rules in the Standard(1) library attribute. These modifications apply the updated standards against all attributes generated in future data loads.
- Any rule you create can be promoted and stored in a library attribute
