The Window Key Generator process uses the following advanced rules file:

Mask file. The mask file lists the mask characters which define each character in the data value. The default mask file name is vcnmasks.win/unx. See Using Masks.

If necessary, you can edit the file by copying it to the client and then uploading it back to the server. The default file is stored in: C:/Program Files/Trillium Software/MBSW/17/tsq/tables/general_resources.

To edit the advanced rules file

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the Window Key Generator process and select Edit Process.
  2. Select the Advanced Rules tab. The path and name of the default mask definitions file display.
  3. Click Copy to client. Select a destination folder and click OK. The file will be copied to the folder you specified.
  4. Go to the destination folder and edit the file using a text editor. When you finish with your edits, save and close the file.
  5. Click Upload to load the file back to the server.
  6. If you want to convert characters with diacritics to their base characters, select Ignore diacritics. A diacritic is a mark, such as the acute accent of resumé, added to a letter to indicate a special phonetic value or distinguish words that are otherwise graphically identical. This option decomposes variations of a character to a single character representation. For example, an umlaut character "Ü" will be converted to the character "U". The window key will be built from the base characters. The setting of this option will be applied to the data of all attributes assigned to the window key.
  7. SAP only. For an SAP project, you can select Fuzzy matching. This option is applied to the Fuzzy Search process in the SAP project. When its enabled, the Window Key Generator will behave as follows:
    • If any input attribute(s) used to generate a window key is blank, blank out the window key.
    • If the resulting string of any input attribute(s) is blank, blank out the window key. For example, street_name is "A" and the window key rule says to build using first three consonants of street_name. Then the window key will be blank.
Note: Refer to the TS Connector for SAP Products Reference Guide for information on the Fuzzy Search process.
  8. Click Finish.

The default version of the rule file remains intact. A new version, identified by the process number, is saved in the repository directory under the project folder (for example, C:/Program Files/Trillium Software/MBSW/17/data/metabase/<repository_name>/project4/tables/p30_maskfile.win).
