Table recoding in the Transformer lets you convert the original value to another value using recode tables. Table recoding can also be used when you want to convert multiple values in an attribute in one operation. You can recode attributes using
- literal value
- The actual value. Example: Value = SW10 8BP
- mask values
- The shape of the value. Example: Mask = AANN NAA
There are three types of recode tables: attribute-based, entity-based, and file-based.
- Attribute-based recode tables. Use an existing set of value or mask recodes created during profiling for recoding.
- Entity-based recode tables. Use an existing entity (real or dynamic) in the repository and its attributes for recoding.
- File-based recode tables. Use an external used-defined table for recoding.
Note: The maximum attribute length for table recodes is 2000 bytes (1000 characters in
UCS2).
Note: If you are converting the Japanese Itai characters, see Using Japanese Itai Table.
