The Transformer process takes input data from one or more entities and converts the input into a single standardized output. Using user-defined rules and tables, the Transformer performs these functions:

  • Specifies Customer Data Parser inputs
  • Scans the value in the attribute and changes, copies, moves, flags, or deletes the value
  • Converts the value to another value using a user-defined external table
  • Transforms the character attribute to another character using a literal, mask, or hexadecimal type
  • Applies conditional logic and filters to transformation rules
  • Generates sequence numbers, source IDs, and the system date/time
  • Stores transformation rules in the library
  • Copies and reuses transformation rules among processes or projects

Web Services

The Transformer also allows you to call certain third-party web services in the Control Center, batch and real-time environments. The Transformer allows you to call certain XMLor JSON-based third-party web services. For example, you can call a web service to obtain GPS coordinates or you can call a web service to generate reverse phone and address information.

Special Transformers

There are four special Transformers that are used to manipulate and reconstruct data elements at different stages of data processing:

  • Transformer Data Reconstruction. Creates a common set of derived attributes used in batch to real-time implementation, and standardizes the output from the Postal Matcher process.
  • Transformer Label Lines. Reconstructs name and address elements at the end of a name and address project.
  • Transformer Pre Postal Matcher. Populates the input attributes used by the Global Postal Matcher for the Basic Countries (zz) template.
  • Transformer Unified Output. Generates the final output attributes in a common format for all country-specific flows.
