The output schema will always be inherited from the input schema by default and have certain limitations. For example, you cannot rename the attributes and you cannot modify the order in which the attributes are defined. If you do not want this to happen, then you can use the Regenerate Output Schema option in the Schema Editor.

To regenerate output schema

  1. Select Regenerate Output Schema check box in the upper right corner of the Schema Editor. The Regenerate Output Schema window displays.
  2. Select one of the following options:
    • Inherit schema. The output schema will be created by inheriting the input schema (default). If there is more than one input, select the input from the Using input schema drop-down list that is to be used as the basis for the output schema.
    • Edit schema. The output schema will be created by editing the input schema. If you use this option, then any changes that you subsequently make to preceding schemas will no longer be applied to the edited schema. For example, if you insert a Transformer with an edited schema into your process flow, then any changes that you make to the schemas of the preceding processes will not be applied to the new Transformer's output schema.
Note: If you regenerate the schema by switching from Edit schema to Inherit schema or vice versa, you lose any Parser inputs that you had specified and you will need to re-specify them.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. Make necessary changes to the schema.

If you select the Edit schema option, you will see that the output attributes are no longer inherited. You can then move the attributes up and down.

  5. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the process and select Apply Schema Changes.
  6. When the message box appears, click OK.
